Who We Are

NapApp was founded at MIT from the firsthand experiences of Anthony Capuano, a passionate cross-country traveler who faced the challenges of drowsy driving on his journeys.

Anthony, a former Navy SEAL, frequently traveled long distances, often through remote areas like central and northern Maine. On one memorable trip, he found himself battling exhaustion with the windows down and music blasting, desperate for a brief nap to recharge and stay on schedule. The alternatives — downing more coffee, sleeping in his car, paying for a full overnight hotel stay, or pushing through exhaustion — were inconvenient, unsafe, and unsustainable. The lack of reliable, short-term rest options left him searching for a better way.

Determined to address this widespread issue, NapApp was born. The mission of NapApp is to combat the dangers of drowsy driving by providing a seamless platform that connects fatigued drivers with nearby roadside hotels offering affordable short-term stays. By promoting safe and restorative breaks, the app helps prevent accidents, save lives, and reduce the societal costs of drowsy driving, which claims over 8,000 lives annually and results in more than $110 billion in damages.

Through innovation and advocacy, NapApp strives to make roads safer for everyone by ensuring drivers are alert and refreshed before continuing their journeys. NapApp empowers weary travelers with a reliable solution to stay safe and enjoy their travels — one nap at a time. Join us on the mission to create safer and more enjoyable travel experiences!
